The next step after booking your family session is finding a location that is the best fit for you. There are so many options out there, and luckily we live in a beautiful state that has so much to offer! I love that many locations my clients choose often offer more than one background (ex: beach & field) but when narrowing down ideas I like to get a feel of my client's overall vision for their session. Pinterset can be a bit overwhelming and often unrealistic, so I put together this blog post with past photo sessions and ideas on location. I hope this provides some inspiration and education for you!
Shooting at an open beach is one of my favorite places to shoot because it's like a blank canvas and the focus is on your family. It gives kids the opportunity to run and play with little background distraction.
Another one of my favorite places to shoot is your home. It's where you feel most comfortable and is a true representation of who you are as a family. Whether it's inside or outside, photographing your family at home adds another layer of memories to your images.
A field with overgrown grass or blooming florals is always a great option for family photos because it provides some pops of color and contrast. Also if your family loves nature this might be the right pick for you.
Want to do a beach shoot but looking for something with a little more dimension or character? There are lots of beaches in Maine that offer a lot of rocky coastline or cliffs.
Whether you own a lakefront property or just love the lake. This is a fun option for families!
While I don't recommend a city shoot if you have little ones, it may be a cool option as your kids get older or if you're looking for a couples session.
